*To all applicants (local, interstate and rural)
In general, universities tend to interview even interstate applicants in the main first round if they are rural. This is because universities get extra funding for recruiting rural students!
For 2026 entry, the following universities will not hold interviews for medicine / provisional entry into medicine: Griffith University (provisional medicine), University of The Sunshine Coast (Pathway to Medicine – provisional entry to Griffith), Flinders University (provisional medicine), University of Tasmania and Otago University.
Melbourne University (provisional medicine Chancellor’s entry): there will be a MMI interview for those accepted into this program in their final undergraduate year.
University of Sydney (entry to Double Degree Medicine program): Students with high ATAR will be invited for an Online assessment day, which is held from December 2025. This includes a written assessment and panel discussion.
Being well-informed about key interview dates and the entire application process is a crucial step in your journey towards medical school. Remember that preparation and punctuality go a long way in ensuring your success. Best of luck with your upcoming interviews, and don’t forget to undergo quality interview training!
